HnExpress Bureau Report, Punjab : Day after the RPG attack on the head quarters of the state intelligence wing, Punjab police on Tuesday sounding a state of high alert in Mohali.Punjab police rounded up 18-20 suspects as the investigation into what might have been “a terrorist attack” gathered pace during the course of the day. The sources said the accused seemed to have travelled to the site in a white car.

A rocket- propelled grenade (RPG) was fired from outside the street which reached the third floor of the building but didn’t explode, damaging only glass doors, window panes, some furniture and computers.The banned outfit Sikhs For Justice (SFJ) purportedly claimed responsibility for the attack through an unverified voice message. Gurpatwant Singh Pannu of the banned outfit Sikhs For Justice claiming responsibility for the attack is being verified, the police said.



Wherea’s Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann today asserted that “Punjab Police is investigating the blast in Mohali. Anyone who tried to spoil the atmosphere of Punjab will not be spared,” Mr. Mann said. Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, whose Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) holds power in Punjab, called it a cowardly act and said all culprits will be punished severely.

Meanwhile, Mr. Mann has called a meeting today at his residence with top police officers to seek a report on the action taken in the incident. Pak-based terrorist Harwinder Singh, alias Rinda, said to have masterminded attack. He is using his network of criminals for smuggling drugs and weapons into the state and carrying out attacks. After the incident, the car-borne suspects took the Airport Road and fled towards Ambala after crossing the Dappar toll plaza, said police sources.
