Journalist Training workshop held in Kolkata Press club, with the Initiative of UNICEF

HnExpress Bureau Report, Kolkata : Journalist Training workshop was held yesterday with the Initiative of Kolkata Press club and cooperation of UNICEF, West Bengal. Discussed subject of Workshop was ‘Developmeant Journalism’. State Government’s Minister of Child and Women welfare department Shashi Panja inaugurated the program.

Number of Different topics apart from main subject matter were discussed as well, example : Data based Journalism, Modular Journalism, Fake news and TRP related issues. The club’s president Snehasish Sur and secretary Kinshuk Pramanik who conducted the event also gave valueable speeches.

More about ‘Development Journalism’— The concept of Development Journalism arises from understanding that journalists in 3rd world societies are expected to play different roles from norms of Western Journalism. First conceived in 1960 at Press foundation of Asia in Phillipines.



It was found that while journalists were reporting Government press releases and Quotes they gave little attention to analysis or evaluation of Development policies of Government. Workshop will be 3 day long program with field visit for journalists attending the workshop.

At the end of Workshop they will get UNICEF approved certificates in Development Journalism. Tommorow will be the last day of Workshop.
